Bunny Means Business: Rabbit CEO’s Top 10 Leadership Lessons
You won't find these treats in any garden
Donovan Jackrabbit is the CEO of Easter Inc., proprietor of the Easter Bunny and all associated IP since 1603.
Donovan Jackrabbit has seen it all
Anti-rabbit prejudice. Industrial sabotage. Wet weather.
But if there’s one thing he’s learned, it’s the value of defying the odds.
Born in a litter of 14, Donovan spent his first year reading Forbes and practising the art of negotiation. While his siblings were still learning how to hop over pebbles, Donovan launched his first non-profit, Golden Burrows, helping rabbit retirees build their own dream hutches.
It wasn’t long before Donovan caught the eye of Wall Street. He would ultimately turn down seven job offers, citing a fear of both walls and streets. But in his second year, Donovan landed a job at a whole foods company, where he climbed the ranks and became the first cottontail rabbit to receive a million-dollar paycheck.
Now, five years later, Donovan Jackrabbit is a legend in the business world.
Since his appointment as CEO of Easter Inc., world leaders have flocked to him with the same question: “What’s your secret?”
His answer?
“A carrot is never truly out of reach.”
Hop your way to the top
With Easter Sunday just around the corner, The Zoo Review was lucky enough to sit down with the world’s most successful business-rabbit. We asked him for his best-kept secrets on leadership.
This is what he had to say…
Come to work looking adorable
No one respects a leader who can’t tend to their own cuteness. If you can’t fluff your fur or straighten your whiskers, why bother coming at all?
Listen to your staff
Being big-eared means I can hear large dogs approaching. It also means I can hear staff talking behind my back. Honest feedback is invaluable.
Carrot before the stick
Difficult staff will drive you crazy. But don’t hit them with anything. Instead, create an environment of rewards… If all else fails, keep a stick on your desk.
Spawn dozens of children
To maintain your status as a strong and charismatic leader, generate an abundance of children. Try to mate often. And remember: write down the names of your offspring. This is vital for birthdays.
Burrow your way into people’s good graces
Looking to land a new client? Make them love you. Two ways that work for me: snuggle in their lap or buy them a Porsche. If one doesn’t work, the other will. If neither work, get a lawyer ASAP.
Wiggle your nose in public
Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not. You’re either you, or you’re nobody. As Oscar Wilde once said, “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
Learn the wisdom of hopping sideways
Going off the beaten burrow is your best bet to outperforming competitors.
Keep your cage clean
Your office reflects your character. Keep your workspace tidy and respectable. Smelly hay keeps the clients away.
Don’t be hare-brained
Stay healthy because life is short (for me, roughly 12 years). Eat plenty of grass and enjoy the things that matter most to you. There’s no better way to keep that spring in your step.
